Project ‘Gaolao Gokul’

Project focuses on the conservation of Gaolao Gau, a dual-purpose (dairy and draught) domestic breed native to Central Indiaand belongs to subspecies BosIndicus. It is considered as Lord Krishna’s Gau and found near Kaundinyapur, ancestral home of Princess Rukmini. As per the estimates, 1500 breeds are left, less than half of pure breed and nearing the extinction.Pure bulls are said to be a mere 100 in number.Project started with 20 Gau and now increased to 30 number.Project get the support from renowned Professionals andAlumni of ICT, IIT, VNIT, DBATU, AISSMS, MMMUT, Somalwar and others.


Objectives

  • To conserve, develop, upgrade pure Gaolao Gau scientifically
  • To enhance quality parameters of Panchgavya Products
  • To develop indigenous sustainable development technologies
  • To build capacity of youths for rural economic self-reliance


Project includes

  • Pure and nutritious fodder through grazing in the forest
  • About 10 km walking path, hence good physic maintenance
  • Breeding through scientific methods
  • Production and quality testing of Panchgavya


Project Outcomes

  • Project started with 20 Gau and now increased to 30 number
  • Health condition of Gau has improved
  • Quality of Gaumutra and Goark improved significantly
  • Quality of Gomaya improved significantly
