Project ‘Bhoomi’

Project focuses on developing the methodologies for strengthening soil morphology through earth-worms and thereby increasing water absorption capacity leading to sustainable cropping pattern.

Objectives

  • To establish correlations between gomaya, gomutra and biomass with earthworms and soil morphology
  • To increase soil voidage to improve soil morphology
  • To establish correlations between soil morphology with soil moistureand humidity
  • To improve condition of ‘waphsa’ (proper mixture of air and vapour inside the soil pores)

Project includes

  • Application of Gaushala products like gomaya, gomutra and others
  • Developing conducive environment for growth of earth-worms in soil
  • Increase number of earth-worms per unit area
  • Development of 3-5 m deep and 5-6 mm diameter earth-worm burrows in soil

Project Outcomes

  • Number of burrowing earth-worms has increased
  • Number of friendly insects like ants, honey-bees, etchas increased
  • Soil develops ‘waphsa’ condition quickly
  • Soil hardness has reduced
  • Symbiotic relationship between microorganisms, earthworms and plants improved
